Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem AlKhateeb, and the Dean of Al-Rafidain University College, Professor Dr. Mahmoud Jawad Abu Al-Shaer, and as part of the college’s commitment to support students psychologically and socially and to equip them with the life skills that contribute to building a balanced and stable future, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at Al-Rafidain University College, in cooperation with its counterpart at the College of Pharmacy/ University of Baghdad, organized an awareness workshop titled “Criteria for Choosing a Life Partner”, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Lubna Abdalkareem Sabri on Monday, April 28, 2025, in the presence of a group of students.
The workshop aimed to shed light on the psychological, social, religious, and intellectual foundations that should be taken into consideration when taking the step towards commitment and building a family, as this workshop takes part of a series of activities that aim to prepare students to be more aware of their choices and more ready to build successful relationships based on mutual respect and understanding.
The workshop addressed the difference between emotional attraction and rational decision-making, the importance of compatibility in values and future vision, and the impact of family background and upbringing on the success of a relationship. Also, the workshop highlighted the importance and role of dialogue and mutual understanding before entering into a relationship.
The workshop concluded that it’s necessary to educate on the importance of making informed decisions when embarking on a relationship, taking into account psychological, social, religious, and mental criteria when choosing a life partner.
