With the approval of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a joint cooperation agreement was signed between the College of Pharmacy at the University of Baghdad and the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate to establish a Higher Professional Diploma Program in Industrial Pharmacy.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Director General of the Research and Development Department at the Ministry, Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi.
The agreement was concluded between the two institutions, represented by the Dean of the University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, and the President of the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate, Dr. Haydar Fouad Alsaeg.
The introduction of this specialization is expected to support national pharmaceutical industries by providing a qualified workforce equipped with advanced scientific and practical skills in the field of industrial pharmacy. This initiative aims to strengthen the local pharmaceutical sector’s capacity for growth and innovation while reducing dependence on foreign expertise.
Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi praised this important step, affirming the Ministry’s support for such qualitative initiatives that contribute to enhancing academic and professional standards and expanding the scope of cooperation between universities and societal institutions. She emphasized that this and similar collaborations serve to strengthen the partnership between academic and professional bodies in the fields of scientific research, training, and continuous development, while also laying the groundwork for joint programs that benefit the pharmacy profession and support scientific competencies in Iraq.
