As part of continuous efforts of health and academic institutions to enhance the quality of patient care, Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Radhi Khudhair, a faculty member at the University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy, participated in preparing the “Guideline for the Management of Medications in the Elderly” issued by the Directorate of Public Health / Non-Communicable Diseases Department.
The guideline aims to promote rational medication use among the elderly, taking into account the differences compared to other age groups, as more than 50% of elderly individuals use three to five types of medications or more, which requires educating healthcare staff on proper storage, handling, and administration of prescribed doses to ensure safe and effective use of medications.
This participation represents one form of collaboration between academics and health institutions, aiming to improve the quality of healthcare for the elderly and ensure safe and effective use of medications in primary healthcare settings.
