Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Scientific affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person scientific seminar entitled “Effects of Two Doses of Apigenin and Vitamin E against Cisplatin-induced Duodenal Mucositis in Rats”, delivered by Pharmacist Ayah Raafat Abdulrazzaq, the MSc student at the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department.

The seminar aimed to highlight the potential preventive and therapeutic effects of Apigenin and vitamin E in experimentally induced tissue injury or inflammation, and to emphasize the importance of preclinical studies in developing new pharmacological therapies.

The seminar included several topics, including an introduction about Apigenin, its natural sources, and pharmaceutical properties, a demonstration of the molecular mechanisms of vitamin E in reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, a presentation of recent findings on the effects of these compounds in animal models, and an explanation of methods used to evaluate pharmacological and immunological effects through different biomarkers.

The seminar concluded that it is important to emphasize scientific research in developing supportive therapeutic strategies to mitigate drug-induced complications, and to encourage postgraduate students to conduct applied research with potential therapeutic value.
