Assistant Lecturer Noor Taleb Akber, Head of the Human Rights Unit at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad, participated in the second national conference on the Legal Aid Law held by the High Commission for Human Rights in cooperation with the International Rescue Committee.
The conference witnessed the attendance of a number of deputies from the Iraqi Council of Representatives, representatives from the British Embassy, government agencies, human rights formations in ministries and independent authorities, as well as a number of legal specialists and human rights activists.
The conference activities began with the national anthem and reciting Surah Al-Fatiha for the souls of Iraq’s martyrs. The conference also addressed the importance of promoting justice and ensuring citizens’ access to free legal services according to human rights principles.
This participation comes within the framework of the college’s efforts to consolidate the culture of human rights and spread legal awareness among members of the academic community, in line with the directions of the University of Baghdad’s efforts in supporting national initiatives that aim to protect rights and promote the rule of law.
