A number of faculty members and students from the College of Pharmacy / University of Baghdad participated in an awareness campaign on the misuse of antibiotics. The campaign was held at the College of Languages within Bab Al-Muadham campus on Monday, 1 December 2025, in cooperation with the Volunteering and Community Support Unit in both colleges.
Fourth-year students and Pharm-D third-year students delivered lectures and provided advice to the students of the College of Languages in Dr. Hazim Hall. Their presentations addressed the main causes of bacterial resistance, its negative impact on patient health, the increased cost of treatment, and the emergence of new antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains. They emphasized that Iraq is witnessing a concerning rise in antimicrobial resistance due to the improper use of antibiotics.
Students from our college met their peers from the College of Languages in the courtyards of the college, where they explained in simple terms the causes of bacterial resistance and the common patterns of antibiotic misuse. They also distributed awareness brochures specially prepared for this event.
This activity comes as part of the efforts of the College of Pharmacy and the faculty of Public Health to strengthen the prevention of communicable diseases and limit the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
The campaign was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Samer Emad Mohammed, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Azeez Ali, Dr. Shaimaa Abdul-Zahra, Lecturer Dr. Heba Haidar, Assistant Lecturer Zubaida Khalil Ibrahim, Assistant Lecturer Amina Nabil Khalid, and Senior Sports Trainer Ensam Fouad.
