A group of faculty members from the College of Pharmacy/ University of Baghdad, along with master’s students from the Clinical Pharmacy Department, participated in the second International Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences, organized by the College of Pharmacy at the University of Maysan in cooperation with the Maysan Pharmacists Syndicate, held from 29–30 November 2025.
The conference witnessed the attendance of prominent figures, including members of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, members of the Maysan Provincial Council, the President of the University of Maysan, as well as deans of several Iraqi pharmacy colleges and international researchers from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Assistant professor Dr. Ali Azeez Ali presented an applied scientific research study on patients’ acceptance of addiction treatment, which included inpatients from two addiction treatment centers in Baghdad. The study showed that most patients were unaware that seeking treatment does not involve any legal accountability, and that they only learned about the existence of these centers through the creative media figure Essam Kasheesh.
Pharmacist Hasan Ali Owayez and Sami Yassir, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Lateef Jasim, participated on the second day of the conference, where they presented their research during the scientific sessions. Their participation witnessed active engagement and fruitful scientific discussions that contributed to the exchange of ideas and the enhancement of research collaboration among Iraqi pharmacy colleges. The participants received awards and certificates of appreciation from the President of the University of Maysan and the Dean of the College of Pharmacy.
Through this participation, the College of Pharmacy/ University of Baghdad reaffirms its commitment to active engagement in scientific conferences outside the university, in support of research collaboration with other universities and ministries, and in pursuit of advancing the scientific and research standing of the university.
