Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb. The University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Pharmacy/ University of Baghdad, held an in-person awareness workshop entitled “Mobile Phones and Social Media: Between Positives and Negatives” presented by Assistant Professor Taghreed Nitham Al-Deen Omar, a faculty member in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department.

The workshop aimed to clarify the impact of mobile phones and social media in facilitating daily life tasks and enhancing communication, in contrast to the social and behavioral problems that may arise from their misuse.

The workshop including several topics: the main advantages associated with the use of mobile phones and social media, the negative effects resulting from excessive or irresponsible use, the impact of technology on family relationships and daily behavior and real-life examples and experiences related to the use of these applications.

The workshop concluded with an emphasis on the need for conscious and balanced use of technology, reducing unnecessary practices, and enhancing family and community awareness regarding time management. The session also included an open discussion to hear participants’ perspectives and the situations they have experienced
