Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Division at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person scientific seminar entitled “Antiproliferative biological activity related to sulfadiazine derivatives,” delivered by pharmacist Yasamine Khalid Abdulqader, the MSc student at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department.

The seminar aimed to highlight the new research related to the synthesis of promising sulfadiazine derivatives that may overcome the potency of conventional anticancer therapy while having fewer side effects and lower costs.

The seminar included several topics, including a general introduction about the molecular hybridization between two biologically active compounds and the procedure of reaction related to the synthesis of sulfadiazine derivatives, It also covered reporting and assessment of the antiproliferative biological assays of the derivatives.

The seminar concluded that these new studies and research provide preliminary yet promising findings, highlighting the need for more extensive and in-depth investigations to confirm results and generate more comprehensive evidence.
