Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuous Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Environment,” delivered by Assistant Professor  Suad Hamoud Muslim, Director of Library Division.

The workshop aimed to introduce intellectual property, the types of rights related to it, and the groups covered by intellectual property rights, including authors, creators, and broadcasting organizations. Also, It addressed the laws that ensure the protection of intellectual property.

The workshop included several topics, including intellectual property and the types of rights, the right to access information, and the groups covered by these rights. Also, It addressed international agreements related to the protection of intellectual property and potential violations in the ways information is accessed. The workshop focused on digital threats such as phishing, emphasized the importance of legal awareness for protecting intellectual property rights, and reviewed practical examples of applying these rights across various sectors, as well as the need to enhance legal awareness among participants.

The workshop concluded that access to information is a legitimate right, and every creative individual has the right to intellectual property. There are also laws that protect creators from violations and breaches.
