Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Human Rights Unit and the Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Division and the Volunteer Work Unit at the College of Pharmacy / University of Baghdad, organized an awareness activity on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The activity involved a group of the college’s students under the supervision of several faculty members as part of the Human Rights Unit’s initiatives.
The event aimed to enhance awareness of the concept of women’s rights and their importance in society, promote the culture of human rights and equality within the university environment, highlight the role of women in community building and sustainable development, encourage students to participate in awareness and volunteer activities, and support initiatives that contribute to women’s empowerment and strengthening their role across various fields.
The event included the presentation of a collection of awareness posters, educational brochures, and artistic works that highlighted the status of women and their contributions in different scientific and professional fields. The activities also emphasized the importance of supporting and empowering women, fostering a work environment that allows them to innovate and contribute effectively, and highlighting their active role in building society and promoting development and progress.
The event concluded with several recommendations, including continuing to organize awareness activities related to women’s rights within the college, strengthening cooperation between the Human Rights Unit and other units and divisions to organize joint activities, encouraging students to actively participate in volunteer initiatives that support women’s issues, supporting programs that promote the principles of equality and respect for human rights within the university community, and organizing regular workshops and educational seminars on women’s issues and rights.
