Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Department of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants in collaboration with the Scientific Affairs Division, organized an extracurricular activity under the supervision of a group of faculty members and with the participation of third-year students. The activity involved the preparation of educational booklets that documented various scientific research studies on medicinal plants and their broad biological activities in combating numerous diseases.

The activity included training third-year students for the academic year 2025–2026 on the principles of rigorous scientific research, starting from how to access research papers, identifying reliable and accredited sources, and concluding with proper methods of accurate scientific referencing. It, also focused on introducing students, in a simplified manner, to the most important academic search engines, contributing to better preparation for their future graduation projects. The activity witnessed notable engagement from students, who demonstrated clear interest in developing their research skills and enhancing their ability to analyse and critically evaluate scientific information, in line with the requirements of modern education based on self-directed learning.

In conclusion, these activities play a significant role in broadening students’ scientific horizons, developing their critical thinking skills, and encouraging them to acquire knowledge from original sources. This, in turn, reinforces the principles of continuous learning and self-reliance in knowledge building, while keeping pace with recent developments in scientific research within medical and pharmaceutical fields.
