As part of the College of Pharmacy’s plan to enhance its services and improve the learning environment, and under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the college has begun utilizing solar energy to rationalize electricity consumption and provide the necessary power for a number of classrooms and scientific laboratories, particularly those designated for postgraduate students. This initiative contributes to reducing reliance on conventional energy sources and ensuring a more stable electricity supply, thereby supporting the continuity of the educational process more effectively. The system also provides power for nighttime lighting and the operation of surveillance camera systems in several college facilities. This step is based on the use of solar panels to generate electricity close to the point of consumption, which helps reduce energy loss during transmission and improve energy efficiency. It also contributes to lowering harmful emissions and preserving natural resources, reflecting the college’s orientation toward more efficient and sustainable solutions. This initiative comes in line with the university’s orientation toward adopting more sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. It also reflects the college’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, through promoting the use of renewable energy sources and raising environmental awareness across the campus, thereby reinforcing the role of educational institutions in advancing sustainability and serving the community.
