Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkateeb, the Human Rights Unit at the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad organized an awareness activity on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, with the participation of a group of students and under the supervision of several  faculty members, as part of the Human Rights Unit’s activities.

The activity aimed to promote a culture of equality and reject all forms of discrimination, in addition to raising awareness of the dangers of racial discrimination to society, supporting the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among individuals, reinforcing the principles of human rights and social justice, and empowering students to play an active role in spreading awareness and humanitarian values within the university community.

The activity included the distribution of awareness leaflets, as well as the display of posters and educational materials aimed at highlighting the importance of rejecting discrimination and promoting a culture of equality and respect for others, thereby contributing to the establishment of a university environment based on understanding and peaceful coexistence.

At the conclusion of the activity, emphasis was placed on a number of recommendations, including the importance of continuing meaningful awareness activities, promoting a culture of respect for diversity within the university environment, supporting student initiatives that serve the community, spreading the concepts of tolerance and coexistence within the educational setting, and expanding the scope of such activities to include broader segments of society.
