In collaboration between the College of Pharmacy and the College of Education ibn Rushd at the University of Baghdad, the College of Pharmacy / Department of Clinical Pharmacy, in coordination with the Volunteer Activities Unit, organized an extracurricular activity on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. The activity consisted of an awareness campaign on Human Papillomavirus (HPV), held at the Bab Al-Muadham campus of the University of Baghdad.

The campaign was attended by several faculty members from the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, including Assistant Professors Dr. Ali Aziz Ali, Dr. Ali Latif Jassim, and Dr. Ihab Mudhar Mikhail, along with a group of fourth-year PharmD students, and with the support of Ms. Insam Fouad, Head of the Volunteer Activities Unit at the College of Pharmacy.

The activity included a visit by the College of Pharmacy delegation to the College of Education ibn Rushd, where an awareness workshop was delivered. The workshop covered an introduction to Human Papillomavirus, its modes of transmission, methods of prevention, and highlighted its role as one of the leading causes of cervical cancer among women.

The delegation was received by Dr. Ahmed Razzaq Younis, Director of the Student Activities Division, and Dr. Mohammed Abdulwahid Jiyass, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, along with several faculty members from the Department of English. A dedicated hall was prepared to host the workshop, which witnessed significant engagement from attendees, including an open discussion on its key topics, particularly the importance of the HPV vaccine available in developed countries and its role in reducing the incidence of cervical cancer.

In addition, a group of pharmacy students conducted field visits across the College of Education ibn Rushd to directly engage with students, raising awareness about preventive measures and the importance of receiving the vaccine once it becomes available in the future through the Iraqi Ministry of Health. Educational brochures were also distributed during the campaign.

At the conclusion of the campaign, attendees and faculty members expressed their appreciation for the initiative, praising the role of the College of Pharmacy, its staff, and students in promoting health awareness and combating communicable diseases. They also emphasized the importance of continuing collaboration between the two colleges to further strengthen health awareness among students and academic staff at the University of Baghdad.
