In line with the mission of the University of Baghdad/ College of Pharmacy to enhance its role in community service, the Clinical Pharmacy Department, in cooperation with the Medical City Directorate and with the participation of fifth-stage (Pharm-D) students, organized an educational awareness campaign on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Hematology and Bone Marrow Diseases Center.
The campaign was supervised by Professor Dr. Diaa Jabbar Kadim, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Yawuz Jamal, and Assistant Lecturer Noor Mubder Khalf, with the participation of PhD student Mayada Qasim.
The campaign aimed to educate patients and their companions about the safe handling of oral chemotherapy medications through the distribution of educational leaflets and simplified, direct explanations. Students focused on four key aspects: safe administration, safe handling, safe storage, and safe disposal of medications, ensuring the protection of both patients and their families from potential risks.
The campaign received wide positive engagement from patients and their companions, who expressed their appreciation for this humanitarian and scientific initiative. It was also highly praised by the healthcare staff at the center for its important role in promoting health awareness and patient safety.
The college affirms its continued commitment to organizing such awareness activities that contribute to community service and reinforce proper health practices.
