The University of Baghdad/ College of Pharmacy held the second edition of the Graduation Research Conference for fifth-stage students, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb; the Associate Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Munaf H. Abdulrazzaq; along with a number of heads of scientific departments and esteemed faculty members, as well as representatives from Al-Wadaq Scientific Office and SAWA Office.
The conference commenced with a distinguished opening program, which included the Iraqi national anthem, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by student Idris Adnan Mahmoud and the reading of Al-Fatiha in memory of our honorable martyrs.
The Dean delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of supporting scientific research and encouraging students’ innovation. This was followed by remarks from representatives of Al-Wadaq Scientific Office and SAWA Office, who commended the quality of the presented research projects and the students’ role in advancing the scientific and healthcare fields. The conference was presented and moderated by the Head of the Media and Government Communication Division, Lecturer Mais Fadhel Mohammed.
The event included the podium presentation of (11) outstanding research projects in the Al-Anthaki and Ashnuna halls, where students showcased their work before specialized scientific committees. In addition, (53) scientific posters were presented, reflecting the diversity and quality of the research topics. On the sidelines of the conference, a special art exhibition was held, featuring creative works by the college students, highlighting their artistic talents alongside their academic journey, and demonstrating the integration of science and art within an inspiring academic environment.
At the conclusion of the conference, students with outstanding oral presentations were honored, in addition to awarding the best four scientific posters, in recognition of their efforts and academic excellence.
The organization of this conference aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) by supporting scientific research and enhancing students’ research and practical skills, Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by encouraging scientific innovation and promoting research that contributes to the development of the health and pharmaceutical sectors, and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through fostering collaboration with scientific institutions, supporting entities, and conference sponsors.
This conference reflects the College’s commitment to supporting students’ academic journey and preparing a generation capable of actively contributing to a prosperous scientific and healthcare future for Iraq.
