Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Student Activities Division organized the final match of the five-a-side football championship on Wednesday, 29/4/2026, held on the college sports field between the third- and fourth-year teams. The match was attended by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Shihab Hattab Mutlaq, who honored the winning teams and presented the awards, emphasizing the importance of sports activities in promoting team spirit and strengthening a sense of belonging within the academic community.
The final match began in an enthusiastic atmosphere marked by fair competition and high-level performance, with strong support and encouragement from students in attendance. The fourth-year team succeeded in claiming the championship title after an outstanding performance, securing a 3–1 victory over their opponents.
Several students stood out during the tournament for their remarkable performance. Player Hussein Hadi was awarded the Top Scorer title, and Tahseen Ahmed Zarak received the Best Player award, while goalkeeper Jaafar Hadi from the fourth-year team was named Best Goalkeeper, in recognition of their exceptional contributions throughout the competition.
This event aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by promoting physical activity and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among students, in addition to Goal 4 (Quality Education) through the development of students’ skills and teamwork, and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening cooperation and integration within the academic environment, contributing to the building of an active and cohesive academic community.
The event concluded in a celebratory atmosphere, with congratulations extended to the winning team and best wishes for continued success and excellence in future sporting activities
