Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Alkhateeb, and on the sidelines of the Design Day event, in a step that reflects the college’s direction toward enhancing the partnership between academia and the industrial sector, the University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy has signed a scientific collaboration agreement with Middle East Pharmaceutical Industries, one of the leading companies in the pharmaceutical sector.

The collaboration aims to develop and manufacture a therapeutic agent targeting ulcerative colitis, leveraging the college’s advanced expertise in nanotechnology and modern pharmaceutical formulations, contributing to the transformation of research outputs into effective pharmaceutical products.

During the preliminary meeting held at the company’s headquarters, the college delegation represented by Professor Dr. Mowafaq Muhammed Ghareeb, PhD candidate Amna Mustafa Mohammed, and MSc student Rusul Hameed Aday delivered a comprehensive scientific presentation highlighting the college’s research capabilities and its potential role in supporting various stages of drug development.

Representatives of the company expressed their strong appreciation for the advanced scientific level demonstrated, commending the college’s ability to align academic research with industrial requirements, particularly in relation to compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.

This collaboration contributes to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), Goal 9 (Industry and Innovation), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
