Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “Essential Skills for the Labor Market – Career Roadmap”, delivered by Lecturer Yousif Sahir Al-Baghdadi.
This workshop is part of the efforts of the University of Baghdad to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), by enhancing students’ skills and preparing them for the labor market. It also contributes to supporting Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by promoting entrepreneurship and developing students’ innovative thinking.
The workshop aimed to develop students’ life and professional skills and prepare them to enter the labor market efficiently.
The workshop covered several key topics, including effective communication skills and their importance in the workplace, as well as an explanation of emotional intelligence and its role in building successful professional relationships. It also addressed entrepreneurship for pharmacists and ways to invest in available opportunities in the labor market. In addition, the workshop provided a practical explanation of how to prepare a professional CV that accurately reflects students’ skills and experiences, along with important tips for successfully passing job interviews with confidence, and the presentation of inspiring success stories aiming to motivate students to develop themselves and strive to achieve their career goals.
The workshop concluded by empowering and qualifying students to become successful and inspiring role models on a personal level, and effectively preparing them to enter the labor market on a professional level.
