The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, met electronically via Zoom on Tuesday morning, May 12, 2026, with Dr. Claire Janoir from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université Paris-Saclay, France. The meeting was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Kadhem Alkinani and Assistant Professor Dr. Ayad Abdul Ali, faculty members at the University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy, as well as a representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Paris. The discussion focused on prospects for scientific cooperation between the two colleges and ways to further develop their academic relationship. The meeting addressed approaches for exchanging researchers, students, and academic staff, as well as enhancing teaching methodologies in alignment with global academic developments. It also emphasized strengthening scientific collaboration through establishing communication channels and implementing joint research projects that contribute to academic diversity and knowledge exchange. In addition, the meeting discussed mechanisms for research collaboration among postgraduate students at both universities through the formation of joint research teams and the execution of diverse research projects. This collaboration aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by supporting the quality of higher education and enhancing international academic partnerships, thereby contributing to the development of the educational and research environment in both institutions. This meeting will be followed by further sessions to activate the agreed-upon areas of cooperation and turn into practical steps. It is also part of a series of meetings and initiatives within a strategic plan developed by the dean’s office to advance both the academic and research dimensions of the college. It is worth noting that Université Paris-Saclay is considered one of the world’s leading universities, distinguished by its strong academic and research reputation. It has achieved advanced positions in international rankings, being ranked first in France and 13th globally according to the Shanghai Ranking of Universities. It is also widely recognized for its excellence in science, research, and innovation, which highlights the significance of this collaboration and its promising future prospects.
