Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuous Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “Training Program on Fire Safety Standards and Protection Requirements,” delivered by Mr. Saad Mahmoud Alwan, Engineer Moayed Mohsen Mohammed, journalist Mr. Qasim Hashem,  the Industrial Projects Company / Al-Rabi Factory.

The workshop aimed to promote a culture of occupational safety and fire prevention, raise participants’ awareness regarding protection procedures and how to deal with emergency situations, and contribute to creating a safe educational and health environment while protecting lives and property. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 13 (Climate Action and Disaster Risk Reduction).

The workshop included several topics, including introducing general safety standards and fire protection requirements, explaining the causes of fires and methods of prevention, identifying types of fire extinguishers and their proper use, presenting evacuation and emergency plans and procedures to be followed during incidents, and emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety instructions and spreading preventive awareness.

The workshop concluded with the importance of continuously applying fire safety standards and protection requirements to reduce risks and incidents, and to strengthen a safe environment within institutions.
