The workshop aimed to define the concept of adapting to university life, and how to acquire the necessary skills for academic and social adaptation, which contributes to enhancing the chances of success and excellence throughout university life.

The workshop included several topics, including that the university is not just a lecture hall, but rather an integrated environment that requires adaptation on several levels, including adaptation to university life, where its dimensions and levels were discussed, academic adaptation through transitioning from rote learning (school) to self-directed research and self-reliance, as well as social adaptation through building a new network of relationships with peers and professors from diverse backgrounds and engaging in student activities. Emphasis was also placed on not postponing tasks (procrastination), as it is the university student’s first enemy, and the importance of combating laziness and facing challenges, in addition to introducing the correct scientific method of study through the SQ3R strategy, which includes Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review.

The workshop concluded with the importance of getting to know the university environment by visiting classrooms, laboratories, the library, and the Deanship of Student Affairs, adhering to university laws and regulations and uniforms, and benefiting from the workshops and training courses available to develop self-skills, as well as achieving a balance between study, rest, and recreational activities to avoid mental exhaustion and enhance the ability to adapt quickly to university life.
