Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuous Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “Ethics of Scientific Research in the Digital Environment,” delivered by Assistant Professor Souad Hamoud Muslim, Head of the Library Division.

The workshop aimed to introduce the fundamental principles of research ethics in the digital environment, promote awareness of the importance of maintaining academic integrity when using electronic resources, and reinforce sound research practices to ensure the quality and credibility of scientific research.

The workshop included several topics, including the concept of research ethics and its significance in the digital environment, the principles of academic integrity, proper citation and referencing of electronic sources, the risks of plagiarism and strategies for its prevention, the ethical use of artificial intelligence tools and digital platforms in research preparation, data protection and privacy, respect for intellectual property rights, and best practices for producing high-quality scientific research in accordance with academic standards.

The workshop concluded that adherence to research ethics in the digital environment is a fundamental pillar for ensuring the quality of scientific output and strengthening confidence in research findings. It emphasized the importance of the responsible use of digital resources, respect for intellectual property rights, and commitment to academic integrity, thereby contributing to the advancement of scientific research and keeping pace with technological developments in a responsible manner.
