The second day’s program featured two specialized scientific workshops in preparation for the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). The event was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb; the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Shihab Hattab Mutlaq; the President of the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate, Dr. Haider Foaad Al-Saigh; in addition to faculty members and staff of the College.

The program commenced with the first workshop, titled “Mass Casualty Incident Management,” delivered by Dr. Mahdi Radhavi from the Warith Medical Foundation. The workshop addressed the scientific and practical principles of managing incidents involving multiple casualties, methods of patient triage, coordination of emergency response teams, and international best practices for handling emergencies to enhance the readiness of healthcare personnel for rapid and effective intervention. The second workshop, entitled “Fundamental Principles and Medical Response in Large Mass Gatherings,” was presented by pharmacist Hassan Sabah Sayhood, representing the Iraqi Pharmacists Syndicate. The session highlighted key organizational and medical measures required to provide safe and effective healthcare services for pilgrims and visitors. It also emphasized the vital role of pharmacists within multidisciplinary healthcare teams in supporting medical services and managing various health conditions and emergencies during religious pilgrimage seasons.

At the conclusion of the event, the dean honored the speakers in recognition of their valuable scientific contributions and their role in the success of the workshops. He reaffirmed the importance of continuing collaboration with healthcare and professional institutions to organize scientific activities that contribute to developing the competencies of medical and pharmaceutical personnel and strengthening their preparedness to serve the community.
