The University of Baghdad, College of Pharmacy, received a delegation from the Ministry of Health / Technical Affairs Directorate on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to discuss opportunities for collaboration and to benefit from the college’s scientific and research expertise in supporting Iraq’s pharmaceutical sector.
The delegation included Mr. Ahmed Hamid, Director of the National Pharmaceutical Industry Division; Specialist Pharmacist Basma Osama; and Specialist Pharmacist Ali Hussein from the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Quality Assurance Unit.
During the visit, discussions focused on scientific and technical cooperation, with particular emphasis on leveraging the college’s academic and research capabilities in the assessment of Permitted Daily Exposure (PDE) values. Discussions also covered several topics related to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements and quality assurance in line with international standards, with the aim of enhancing the quality of locally manufactured pharmaceutical products.
The visit reflects the College of Pharmacy’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with government institutions in support of the national pharmaceutical industry. It also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
