Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and in line with the college’s mission to serve the community and promote public health, the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad, under the supervision of the Volunteer Work Unit, organized a field medical unit during the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
The team provided essential medical and first aid services to thousands of pilgrims, operating day and night under the supervision of faculty members and with the active participation of distinguished students. This initiative not only embodied the values of compassion and humanitarian service but also reinforced the university’s role in addressing community needs during major national and religious events.
Through such humanitarian initiatives, the College continues to strengthen its role as an academic institution committed to volunteerism, the promotion of public health, and meaningful community engagement. These efforts contribute to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by providing essential healthcare and first-aid services to pilgrims while fostering a culture of volunteerism and social responsibility.
