The Dean of the University of Baghdad, College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, hosted on Thursday, September 3, 2026, Dr. Ali Khalil, Executive Director of Al-Mansour Pharmaceutical Industries (MPI), and Dr. Qutaiba Al-Awqati, in the presence of Lecturer Mais Fadhel Al-Sarraf, Head of the Media and Government Communication Division, during a visit that addressed prospects for joint collaboration between the College and the company.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen the partnership between the academic sector and the national pharmaceutical industry, as well as a number of areas of collaboration that could contribute to supporting pharmaceutical education and advancing scientific research in line with the requirements for developing the pharmaceutical industry in Iraq.
The meeting also addressed opportunities for collaboration in supporting the scientific and academic activities organized by the College, particularly the 12th Scientific Conference of the College, which will be held on October 20, 21, and 22, 2026, coinciding with the College’s celebration of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Baghdad, College of Pharmacy. This collaboration will strengthen communication between academic and industrial institutions and open new avenues for cooperation in the pharmaceutical field.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining communication and expanding areas of joint collaboration in a manner that serves scientific and pharmaceutical advancement and contributes to supporting and developing the pharmaceutical sector in Iraq, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
