Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Kadhem Alkinani, Head of the Pharmaceutics Department, participated as a representative of Iraq in the activities of the Pharmaconex 2026 Conference and Exhibition, held in Cairo, Egypt, from September 1 to 3, 2026, with the participation of leading experts, specialists, and representatives of pharmaceutical institutions and companies from various countries around the world. Dr. Alkinani delivered a scientific lecture entitled “Localization of Pharmaceuticals in Iraq: Opportunities in Generics, Biologics, and Technology Transfer”. The lecture presented an overview of the pharmaceutical industry in Iraq and highlighted the key opportunities and potential for localizing the production of generic medicines and biologics. It also addressed recent developments in the pharmaceutical sector and the promising potential for advancing the national pharmaceutical industry, while emphasizing the importance of technology transfer, developing manufacturing capabilities, attracting specialized investments and expertise, and building effective partnerships with international institutions and experts. These efforts can contribute to strengthening local manufacturing capabilities and supporting pharmaceutical security in Iraq.

This participation is part of the college’s academic and scientific presence at specialized scientific forums and reflects its commitment to strengthening communication with regional and international pharmaceutical institutions and experts. It also supports the exchange of knowledge and expertise and opens new avenues for collaboration in the pharmaceutical industry, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, through contributing to pharmaceutical security, ensuring the availability of medicines, and developing health industries; Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through supporting the localization of pharmaceutical industries, technology transfer, and innovation; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening cooperation and communication with international institutions and experts.
