Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad/ College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “Understanding Legal Penalties and Their Causes,” delivered by Assistant Lecturer Yaqout Abdul-Hakeem Hameed, Assistant Lecturer Sally Rabie Nada, and Ms. Zainab Khazal Mohammed.
The workshop aimed to raise participants’ level of legal awareness, introduce them to the penalties associated with violations and their causes, promote a culture of compliance with laws and regulations, and reinforce the principle of legal responsibility, thereby contributing to a university environment that is aware of its rights and duties and more committed to applicable rules and regulations.
The workshop included several topics, including an introduction to the concept of legal penalties, their main types and causes, and the consequences of violating applicable laws, regulations, and instructions. It also addressed the importance of awareness of the laws and regulations governing work, the need to understand legal rights and duties, and the importance of compliance with applicable instructions and regulations, thereby contributing to reducing violations and strengthening a culture of legal responsibility within the university institution.
The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of strengthening legal awareness and a culture of compliance among university staff, thereby enhancing institutional responsibility and contributing to creating a university environment based on respect for rights and duties. This is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, through supporting the rule of law and strengthening effective and accountable institutions.
