The faculty of pharmacy discussed the master’s thesis tagged “Study of Phytochemical Constituents of Moringa oleifera Cultivated in Iraq and Evaluation of Cytotoxic Activity” for the student Marwa Husham Al-Shaya and her supervisor, Professor Dr. Enas Jawad Kadhim, in the Pharmacognosy and medicinal plants department. The aim of the thesis was to conduct a phytochemical analysis on Moringa oleifera cultivated in Iraq and assess the cytotoxic activity of Moringa oleifera seeds ethyl acetate extract using the MTT assay on the MCF-7 cell line. The second part of the research showed that there is a distinct ability of Moringa oleifers seeds ethyl acetate fraction to suppress the growth of cancer cell lines and, importantly, this effect is concentration dependent. The results demonstrate the isolation, identification and quantification of five compounds (caffeic acid ,p-coumaric acid, ellagic acid, ferulic acid and stigmasterol) by using different techniques (TLC,FTIR UV, HPLC, and LC/MS/MS/Q /TOF)
