Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Clinical Pharmacy Department at the University of Baghdad College of Pharmacy organized a scientific visit for fourth-year PharmD students to the Dialysis and the Antimicrobial Resistance Control Units at the Medical City Directorate.

The visit aimed to introduce students to the pharmacist’s responsibilities within these units and demonstrate how to perform their roles effectively in providing advanced pharmaceutical care to Iraqi patients. This was achieved by training students on practical and field-related aspects of clinical practice.

The visit was conducted in cooperation with the Medical City Directorate and included a field tour accompanied by the Pharmaceutical Board team, which consists of a group of students and graduates, under the supervision of Clinical Pharmacist Dr. Kawther Fares. The team provided practical information and professional guidance related to the challenges pharmacists face in these units, contributing to enhancing students’ understanding and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practice.

The visit concluded by strengthening PharmD students’ understanding of the nature of pharmaceutical work within the Medical City units and providing them with a clearer insight into the skills required for their future professional roles in the pharmacy field.
