Under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum AlKhateeb, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy-University of Baghdad, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Education-Ibn Rushd/University of Baghdad, held an awareness activity in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education-Ibn Rushd/University of Baghdad, entitled (You are the source of life… so check and reassure us). The activity included a lecture presented by Dr. Lubna A Sabri with a group of Pharm D students entitled (Early detection of breast cancer… saving a life), in addition to a poster prepared by the Pharm D students under the supervision of Dr. Azhar Mahdi and symbolic artwork under the supervision of Dr. Duha Abdel-Saheb, as well as some motivated brochures and leaflets that were distributed to encourage the audience to perform a breast examination under the supervision of professors of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Pharmacy. The aim of this activity was to encourage the females to do self-examination, check clinically, and make radiograms, which can help in the early detection of breast cancer and thus increase disease recovery rates, sometimes completely. The activity also included highlighting the steps of the breast self-examination method, breast cancer signs and risk factors, and the prevention strategies to reduce the cancer incidence, educating women about the dangers of this disease, and correcting some false conceptions about breast cancer that spread among people. The activity also dealt with the available free breast cancer screening centers for early detection, either in government health institutions or the private sector, under the Better Together for Awareness initiative. In the end, the questions and inquiries of the attendees who praised the awareness activity were answered.
