Within the framework of the collaborative scientific cooperation between the Faculty of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Professor Dr. Enas Jawad Kadhim, at the Department of Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants at the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad, participated in a scientific symposium entitled “Modern Trends in the Use of Plants in Medical, Agricultural, and Industrial Fields as Safe Alternatives” in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals/Industrial Research and Development Authority that was held in the central hall of the Industrial Research and Development Authority at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals. The symposium addressed the possibility of discovering and using medicinal treatments from herbal plants as safe alternatives for treating various common diseases and referred to the ongoing scientific research at our college, which relies on modern scientific methods, to fully benefit from Iraqi plants for the purpose of isolating new medicines. This contributes to the development and qualitative leap of the modern pharmaceutical industry, given the abundance of these plants and their minimal side effects. This forms the basis upon which modern pharmacognosy is built. At the end of the symposium, Dr. Enas Jawad was honored with a certificate of appreciation for her efforts in enriching the symposium’s topic.
