Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, and in the presence of the Assistant Deans, Assoc. Prof. Shihab Hattab Mutilak and Assoc. Prof. Munaf Hashim Abdul Razzaq, along with the heads of the college scientific departments and faculty members, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in collaboration with the Division of Media and Public Relations, organized an event to welcome first-year students for the academic year 2023-2024. The event took place on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the Al-Aqsa Hall at the college. The ceremony began with the national anthem and the reading of the fragrant verses of the Holy Quran by the fourth-year student Ali Saleem. A recitation of Al-Fatiha for the souls of our righteous martyrs followed. The ceremony then began with welcoming remarks to the students and greetings to the attendees by the head of the Division of Media and Public Relations, accompanied by an introductory video about the college. The Dean of the College then delivered a welcoming speech to the new students, congratulating them on the start of the new academic year and wishing them success, emphasizing the keys to academic excellence and adherence to university life rules in terms of knowledge, skills, and behavior. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Student Affairs informed the students about their duties, rights, the importance of attendance, and the college’s instructions, wishing them a successful academic year. The event included educational and awareness lectures on various topics, such as “Glimpses of the History of Pharmacy in Mesopotamia,” “An Introduction to the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit and University Life,” and finally, “The Laws of the University Campus and Student Behavior,” presented by the members of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the college. The ceremony also featured the inspiring story of ambition and perseverance of the second-year student, Taqwa Mustafa.The ceremony concluded with a student competition, and a number of prizes were distributed to the winners. The dean and his assistants answered student questions related to various scientific and administrative matters concerning their upcoming university lives.
