Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Division of Media and Public Relations and the Student Activities Unit, held an awareness-raising activity entitled (Together for Better Mental Health. The activity included a symposium entitled (Psychological Pressures and Their Impact on the University Student, presented by Dr. Jinan Bahjat Abdel Majeed, a psychiatry specialist at AL-Yarmouk Teaching Hospital, in which she discussed the types of psychological pressures that university students may be exposed to in their academic careers and how to confront and overcome them. At the end of the interactive symposium, the specialist doctor answered all the questions and inquiries of the audience. The symposium was commended and praised by the attendees. The Dean of the College of Pharmacy also opened an exhibition of posters, brochures, paintings, and handicrafts that were made by the students under the supervision of the faculty members. The goal of the activity was to identify the concept of mental health and positive thinking and encourage positive behaviors and mental wellbeing skills among people. The activity also included highlighting strategies for dealing with crises and psychological pressures in daily life and social relationships.
