The College of Pharmacy discussed the MSc thesis entitled “The impact of implementing a pharmacist-led deprescribing program on the medication-related burden and adherence among hemodialysis patients” by Mohammed Jameel Falah and the supervisor, Lecturer Dr. Ali Lateef Jassim, at the Clinical Pharmacy Department.The study aimed to assess the impact of the deprescribing program as directed by the pharmacist on patients’ adherence to take medication and the medication-related burden among hemodialysis patients. A prospective interventional, one-group pretest-posttest-only design study was conducted at the Centre for Hemodialysis, Wasit Governorate, Iraq.The study involved a medication reconciliation followed by a medication review based on a deprescribing program developed based on the latest recommendations and guidelines for treating hemodialysis patients under the physician’s supervision.
