Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person scientific seminar entitled “SGLT2 Inhibitors Role in DM and Cardiovascular Diseases, Is That All?” delivered by the pharmacist Thuraya Safaa Ibrahim, the MSc student at the Clinical Pharmacy Department. The seminar aimed to raise knowledge about the latest updates regarding the SGLT2 emerging uses and their significance for diabetes and cardiovascular disease patients. The seminar included several topics, including the definition of SGLT2 inhibitors such as Farxiga and Jardiance, their mechanisms of action, and their under-research indications. The seminar concluded that SGLT2 inhibitors are a good area for research, especially Farxiga and Jardiance, as researchers have been exploring new indications in addition to their original indication for diabetes mellitus.
