Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person scientific seminar on “New Advances in Treatment of Hypertension,” delivered by Pharmacist Layla Abdullah, the MSc student at the Clinical Pharmacy Department. The seminar aimed to raise knowledge about the latest updates and therapeutic perspectives regarding resistant hypertension in guidelines and the limitations of existing treatments. The seminar included several topics, such as the introduction of Aprocitentan as a novel endothelin receptor antagonist, newly approved by the World Food and Drug Organization (FDA) for the treatment of resistant hypertension, the presentation of recent studies in this regard, and clarification of the future destinations for resistant hypertension treatment.
