Dr. Kawthar Khalid Ahmed, a faculty member in our college, participated in the first edition of the 3-minute thesis competition held by the University of Technology in April 2024 and was one of the members of the judging panel for the final contest. The competition involves a presentation by graduate students who are in the research stage of their projects in a simplified language easily understood by non-specialists and aims to foster their presentation skills to effectively convey their research to non-specialists. The three-minute thesis competition was first established at the University of Queensland in 2008 and is currently being held in over 900 universities in 80 different countries. This is the first time the competition has been held in Iraq. Dr. Kawthar had participated earlier in this competition at the University of Iowa, USA, where she won first place and people’s choice awards.
