Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with Ibn Sina Unit at the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad, held an electronic workshop entitled ”Dementia: A Guide for Caring for and Supporting Family and Partners,” delivered by the lecturer Dr. Shaymaa Abdul Zahra Abbas, a faculty member in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department. The workshop aimed to draw attention to dementia syndrome, which is characterized by deterioration in memory, thinking, behavior, and the ability to carry out daily activities. Although dementia primarily affects the elderly, it is not considered a normal part of aging. There are about 50 million people with dementia. This number is expected to triple by the year 2050. The workshop also addressed the forms of dementia and tips for dealing with those with them, as every person can contribute to improving the living conditions of dementia patients through their personal behavior. Since people suffering from dementia lose their ability to remember over time, the most important thing is that we do not forget them.
