Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person workshop entitled “Nanotechnology in Hair Treatment,” delivered by Assistant Lecturer Noor Mohammed Dawood, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutics Department.  The workshop aimed to increase knowledge about the types of nanoparticles used in hair care and hair treatment. The workshop included several topics like: types of diseases that affect hair and types of hair cosmetics and hair treatment; advantages of the use of nanotechnology in hair cosmetic and medical preparations; and types of nanoparticles that are used in hair care and hair treatment. The workshop concluded that it is necessary to study conventional testing methods available to assess the effectiveness and safety of cosmetic compounds, including those within the nano range, when evaluating hair formulations. It was found that nano compounds contribute more extensively and effectively to treating hair problems with fewer side effects.
