Under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem AlKhateeb, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy-University of Baghdad. The continuing education unit, in collaboration with Ibn Sina unit at the College, held a workshop under the title of (Laboratory Safety). It was presented by the assistant lecturer Zahraa Hasan Falhi, a faculty member in the Pharmaceutics Department. Laboratory safety rules are essential requirements that should be followed by faculty members and students. Therefore, all personnel that are working in the laboratory should be aware about laboratory safety to ensure a safe work environment inside the laboratory. The workshop involved an explanation of the general laboratory safety rules and safety data sheets (SDS) that provide comprehensive information about the safe handling of chemicals. The guidelines for chemical storage were also elucidated to ensure safe and organized chemical storage. The workshop showed the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) that should be worn by faculty members and students. Finally, the presentation clarified the right ways for the disposal of hazardous compounds and how important it is for the environment and public health.
