Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “The Scourge of Drugs and Its Effects on the Individual and Society, Between Science and Law,” delivered by Lecturer Dr. Jinan Abdul Razzaq Fattah, a faculty member in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department, and Assistant Lecturer Hiba Hayder Kadhum, coinciding with the Iraqi Week for Drug Control. The workshop included several topics, such as defining the concept of drugs, their types, causes of addiction, methods of prevention, and their economic, health, and social impacts. It also covered the Iraqi legislator’s stance on the crime of illegal drug trafficking and the crime of drug and psychoactive substance use. At the end of the workshop, the audience’s questions were answered.
