Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy, held an in-person scientific seminar entitled “Green Chemistry” delivered by Associate Lecturer Marwa H. Momhammad, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department.The seminar aimed to present scientific aspects related to the practical part of scientific research in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry in order to exchange ideas and review scientific results. The seminar included several topics, including an introduction to green chemistry, as well as an explanation of techniques and solutions offered by green chemistry to develop and manage production methods to preserve environmental resources and achieve sustainable development. The seminar concluded that the design of chemical processes and products that reduce or eliminate the use of hazardous materials and the production of harmful waste are required to make the chemical industry more sustainable and environmentally friendly and improve economic efficiency at the same time. At the end of the lecture, the questions raised by the attendees were answered.
