Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit organized an electronic awareness workshop entitled “Drugs and Their Societal Risks: Causes, Motivations, and Prevention,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Fadya Yaqoob Kadhim, a faculty member in the Clinical Pharmacy Department.The workshop aimed to educate the attendees about the causes of drug addiction, providing a detailed explanation of these causes. It also discussed the consequences of drug addiction on the individual and the family, which are the foundation of society, and the subsequent impact on the community as a whole. Additionally, the workshop covered the motivations behind drug addiction and how to follow effective and proper methods to eliminate this social issue, which has been increasingly affecting our community. This includes the intensification of awareness campaigns in schools and universities and through media outlets, as well as strengthening monitoring and regulation efforts to curb the rise in drug addiction.
