Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, two scientific activities were held on Thursday, 12/5/2024. The first included a scientific visit to the Antibiotic Resistance Control Unit, and the second was a scientific visit to the Chemical Mixing and Intravenous Nutrition Unit in the Medical City. The activity was organized by faculty members from the Clinical Pharmacy Department with the participation of a group of fourth-year PharmD students to familiarize them with the duties and activities of the above units. The activity included giving a scientific lecture on the role of the pharmacist in preventing, reducing, and monitoring cases of bacterial resistance and introducing students to the achievements of the Antibiotic Resistance Control Unit and the methods of work followed in it. The activity then included a review of the role of the chemical mixing unit and intravenous nutrition, how to prepare intravenous medications, and methods of mixing them.The students were also given the opportunity to observe the preparation of some intravenous solutions for chemical mixing, as well as the preparation of intravenous nutrition solutions, and learn about the most important conditions for their preparation and how to store and use them.The faculty members participating in this activity are Assistant Professor Dr. Dhiaa Jabbar Kadhim, Assistant Professor Dr. Samer Imad Mohammed, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Azeez Ali, Assistant Professor Dr. Basma Zuhair Muhammad Naji, and Lecturer Dr. Ali Latif Jassim.
