Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad/College of Pharmacy held an in-person workshop entitled “Procedures for Applying for Scientific Promotions in Accordance with the New Regulations and Instructions,” delivered by Professor Dr. Enas Jawad Kazem, Head of the Scientific Promotions Unit, and Lecturer Dr. Safa Thaer. The workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the requirements and procedures for scientific promotion (both according to scientific rank).  The discussion focused on the mandatory conditions for research submissions, ensuring compliance with the latest regulations. The workshop included several topics, including the latest scientific promotion regulations, emphasizing the academic rigor required for published and accepted research, the grading criteria for scientific promotion across different scientific ranks, and a detailed explanation of scientific promotion forms, highlighting all relevant conditions and controls as outlined in Scientific Promotions Instructions No. 167 of 2017. Additionally, the workshop included an interactive open-dialogue session that facilitated discussions on the updated policies and guidelines governing scientific promotions.The workshop concluded by reaffirming that scientific promotions are governed by Scientific Promotions Instructions No. 167 of 2017, which outlines the calculation of points for scientific ranks in scientific disciplines. Additionally, it detailed the assessment of points for scholarly activities and community service, referring to Table No. (1) and Table No. (2), respectively. The session also provided insights into recent amendments, including the removal or addition of certain activities within the promotion framework.
