Under the supervision and patronage of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Sarmed H. Kathum AlKhateeb, the Psychological Guidance and Educational Counseling Unit, in collaboration with the Support Committee for Volunteerism at the College of Pharmacy, organized an awareness workshop titled “Collaborating to Combat the Drugs Addiction” presented by officers from the Iraqi National Security Service on Sunday, March 23, 2025. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and its negative impact on individuals and society. It covered the types of natural and synthetic drugs, common drug dealer terminology, causes of addiction, and the physical, psychological, and social harms of drug use. One video demonstrated the stages of addiction, while another showcased how the National Security Service handles drug reports confidentially and tackles drug trafficking. The legal framework for combating drugs abuse was also discussed, with a focus on the Iraqi Drug Law.
