Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Sarmed H. Kathem Alkhateeb, the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Pharmacy/University of Baghdad organized an extracurricular activity in the courtyard of the college titled “Towards a World Free of Chemical Pollutants.” The activity was held as part of the college’s Counseling Week, with the participation of a group of students and the supervision of several faculty members.
The exhibition aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of chemical pollutants on human health and the environment, enhance students’ role in adopting scientific practices that help reduce pollution, and encourage creativity and responsible environmental thinking among the student community.
The exhibition featured a variety of activities, including scientific posters, educational brochures, and artistic works through which students addressed several important topics. These included the sources and types of chemical pollutants and their health and environmental impacts, pharmaceutical pollution and safe methods for medication disposal, as well as proposed solutions and strategies to reduce pollution and highlight the pharmacist’s role in environmental awareness.
The exhibition concluded by emphasizing the importance of enhancing environmental awareness within the university campus, supporting student initiatives that promote sustainability, and encouraging research that contributes to protecting the environment from chemical pollutants. The event showcased the students’ high levels of creativity and commitment, reflecting the College of Pharmacy’s role in preparing a conscious and responsible generation toward health and environmental issues.
